The Fort Willem Hike takes you away from the busy streets and into the peaceful hills above town. As the trail climbs higher, the houses slowly give way to open terrain and beautiful views across Great Bay, Little Bay, and the surrounding hills.
At the top of Fort Willem Hill, you are rewarded with an impressive panorama of southern Sint Maarten. From here, you can watch cruise ships in the harbor, spot airplanes in the distance, and—on a clear day—see neighboring islands on the horizon. Along the way, you may also encounter some of the island’s curious goats and other local wildlife.
With its steep climbs, Caribbean scenery, and wide-open views, this hike is a great way to experience a different side of Sint Maarten. Start early, bring plenty of water, and don’t forget your camera.
